Frye Home Blankets and Bedding

Frye Home makes throws, blankets and bedding: faux fur and woven throws, comforter and quilt sets, sheet sets and a duvet set. If you came for a Frye blanket, the throws are the place to start, and the size in the title is the first thing to check. I'm Margo. I fold blankets for a living now only at home, which Dev says is still a living.

What Frye Home makes

Frye Home is a bedding and throws line. On Amazon US it covers four kinds of product:

Most Frye Home listings name Pem America as the manufacturer. Pem America is a New York home textiles company, and it makes Frye Home bedding under license. That's why the listings look like a bedding company's lineup: collections with names, sold as sets, in bed sizes.

Every product in the grid above is live on Amazon US at our last check. Several showed only a few left, so a card can come and go between our weekly checks.

How to read a Frye Home listing

Frye Home titles are long and do a lot of the work. The collection name comes first (Vintage Washed, Bubble Faux Fur, Channel Stitch Velvet, Bamboo, Chunky Linen Weave, Dusted Denim, Layton, Cotton Linen), then the fabric, the piece count, the size and the color.

Here's what our data records for each kind:

That's not a lot of fields, and I'll be plain about what's missing. Our data has no care instructions, no thread counts, no GSM (fabric weight) and no pocket depths for these listings yet. When a field is blank in our data, it stays out of this page. The title may say more; I only repeat what I can trace.

Read the care tag before the price tag. With bedding sold in sets, that's doubly true: a comforter you can't wash at home costs you money every season, and the set price doesn't mention that.

Lineup notes

Faux fur throws: the Frye blanket most people mean

When people search for a Frye blanket, they usually mean a faux fur throw. There are two in our data.

The Luxe Faux Fur Throw is listed as a throw in faux fur. Its title gives 60 x 70 inches and calls it reversible. The Bubble Rabbit Faux Fur throw is also a faux fur throw, and its title gives 50 x 70 inches, in grey.

A 60 x 70-inch throw covers one adult on a couch with some to spare. A 50 x 70-inch throw is narrower, a lap-and-legs throw. Neither is sized to cover a bed. If you want faux fur on the bed itself, the Bubble Faux Fur comforter set is the one to look at.

Faux fur is a synthetic pile made to look like fur. It sheds a little at first and collects lint from anything it's washed with. More on the fabric is on the faux fur throws page.

Cotton Woven blanket: the one for a bed

The Cotton Woven blanket is listed as woven cotton, sold in grey as Twin/Twin XL. It's a blanket, not a throw, and twin XL is the longer twin size often found on dorm beds. A woven cotton blanket is the layer I'd put between a sheet and a comforter, or on its own in summer.

Comforter sets: Vintage Washed, Bubble Faux Fur, Channel Stitch Velvet

Three comforter sets are listed, each a comforter with shams:

Full/queen means one size meant for both beds. On a full it hangs lower at the sides; on a queen it covers the top with less drop. If you like a comforter that reaches the box spring, check the comforter's measurements on the listing against your mattress before you buy.

The velvet and faux fur sets are heavier-looking fabrics. Before buying either, read the care tag on the listing. Velvet and faux fur are the two fabrics most likely to ask for gentle washing.

Quilt sets and a duvet set

There are two quilt sets in full/queen: Vintage Washed in grey and Layton Yarn Dyed. A quilt is a thinner, stitched layer, lighter than a comforter. In a 1924 duplex with one thermostat, a quilt plus a throw is how I get through October without opening a negotiation with Dev.

The Cotton Linen duvet set is a 3-piece king set in white. A duvet set is a cover and shams, not the insert, so you need your own duvet or comforter to go inside. Our what is a duvet cover guide covers the difference.

Sheet sets: cotton, cotton linen and bamboo

Frye Home has more sheet sets than anything else in the lineup.

"Bamboo" on a sheet label usually means rayon or viscose made from bamboo, which is a processed fiber, not raw bamboo. The FTC requires textile labels to list fibers by their generic names with percentages by weight, so the label inside will say what the fiber really is. Read that line, not the color name.

"Deep pocket" is a title phrase until you see a number. Measure your mattress depth and match it to the pocket depth on the listing. If the listing doesn't give one, ask before you buy, or the fitted sheet will spend its life popping off one corner.

Piece counts tell you what's in the box

Frye Home titles give a piece count: 2-piece, 3-piece, 4-piece. That number is the whole set, and it's worth decoding before you compare two listings.

On a comforter or quilt set, a 3-piece set usually means the comforter or quilt plus two shams. Shams are decorative pillow covers; they go over pillows you already have. On a sheet set, a 4-piece set usually means a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and two pillowcases, and a smaller set for a twin bed has fewer pieces. On a duvet set, 3 pieces is the cover and two shams, with no insert.

"Usually" is doing honest work in those sentences. The listing's own "what's included" line is the one that counts, so read it. I have opened a set at the fabric store counter with a customer and found one pillowcase where they expected two. Nobody was happy, least of all the pillowcase.

Building a Frye Home bed in layers

You don't need the whole lineup. You need a bed that works in January and again in July. Here's how the pieces stack, from the mattress up:

  1. Sheets: cotton, cotton linen or bamboo, in your bed size
  2. A light layer: the Cotton Woven blanket on a twin, or a quilt set on a full or queen
  3. A warm layer: a comforter set, or a duvet set over an insert you own
  4. A throw: faux fur at the foot of the bed or on the couch

In summer I take off layer three and the bed still looks made. In winter everything goes on, and the throw moves to the couch where Dev can find it. Layers are how I keep the duplex at 66°F with a clear conscience. Dev calls it a cold war. I call it a quilt.

If you're buying for a guest room, start with sheets and one top layer. A guest bed made properly needs less than you think: clean sheets, a top layer that fits, and two pillows in cases. The throw is a kindness, not a requirement.

How to choose within Frye Home

Start with what the bed needs, not the collection name

Collection names are pretty. They don't tell you whether a set fits. Decide what's missing on the bed first: a top layer (comforter or quilt), a cover for a duvet you already own, sheets, or a throw for the couch.

Then the size, exactly as listed

Frye Home sells full/queen as one size, king as its own, and twin or Twin/Twin XL on a few items. Measure the mattress, not the bed frame, and write the width and length on a sticky note before you shop. A full/queen set covers a queen best; on a full it simply hangs lower. At the hotel we once stocked a whole floor with full/queen spreads for king beds after a purchasing mix-up. Guests noticed. So did the floor supervisor, which was me.

Then the fabric and the care tag

Cotton and cotton linen wash and wear like everyday bedding. Bamboo viscose is the one to read most carefully, because rayon fabrics vary in what the tag allows. Velvet and faux fur are the most particular. Our data doesn't have the care instructions yet, so check the tag on the listing before you choose.

Then stock

These listings move. At our last check several showed only a few left. If a card disappears from the grid, it may be back after a restock, or it may not. We don't guess which.

Questions about Frye

Who makes Frye Home bedding?

Most Frye Home listings on Amazon US name Pem America as the manufacturer. Pem-America, Inc. is a home textiles company founded in 1993 with its corporate office in New York City, and it lists Frye among the national brands on its brands page. A 2021 Licensing International report said Pem America would introduce bedding collections under the Frye brand.

Where can I buy Frye blankets?

This site tracks Amazon US only. At our last check the Frye Home listings in the grid above were shipped and sold by Amazon.com, and several showed only a few left in stock. We don't track other stores, so we can't say what they carry. Stock changes, and the grid updates with our weekly check.

What size is a Frye throw blanket?

It depends on the throw, so read the title. The Luxe Faux Fur Throw is titled 60 x 70 inches and the Bubble Rabbit Faux Fur throw 50 x 70 inches. The Cotton Woven blanket is sold as Twin/Twin XL. The throws are for a couch or the foot of a bed; for a whole bed, look at the comforter and quilt sets.

Are Frye sheets OEKO-TEX certified?

Several Frye Home titles mention OEKO-TEX. We show a certification in our data only when it's confirmed for that listing, and for these listings it isn't confirmed yet. If it matters to you, look for the label number on the product and check it in OEKO-TEX's Label Check, which confirms whether a certificate is valid.

How do I wash a Frye faux fur blanket?

Our data doesn't record care instructions for the Frye faux fur throws, so follow the care tag sewn into the blanket. As a general habit, wash faux fur on its own so it doesn't pick up lint from towels, and skip high heat unless the tag allows it. The tag outranks any guide, including this one.
